A hot, wet Leiden marathon

Leiden’s annual marathon race was held last Sunday. About a dozen people were affected by the heat and were attended by the emergency services. In fact, the start of the ten-kilometre run was postponed for half an hour because of the heat. Luckily, half way through the afternoon, a heavy shower of rain cooled the runners down. Kenyan Eluid Weru won the men’s race and Tsgereda Girma Ayele from Ethiopia came first in the women’s race.
